To create a virtual space that transcends national boundaries to reach, connect and build the community of the faithful so as to lead them closer to God.
On 14 February 2020, the Archdiocese of Singapore announced that all Masses would be suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. What was meant to be an interim measure of bringing the Word of God to the faithful, soon became part of the new norm that we all had to live in. In order to fulfil this void, the Digital Ministry was born.
This ministry comprises mainly volunteers and a parish staff who work closely with the Franciscan friars to meet the spiritual needs of the faithful through the production of online Masses, Liturgy of the Word, daily reflections, prayers and devotions, and to bring about a greater awareness of the Franciscan spirituality.
Besides the parish website, we seek to communicate to the faithful through various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram and the St Mary’s smartphone app. Through our ministry, we hope to give people some tools through the Word, so that they can have peace and joy in their lives, and hopefully that will spill out to others. The church is not a building – it is the people.
